Built in Africa to take on the world. Our own factory since 2014, making the canopies we take on our own trips.
Our story
After twenty-five years in the 4x4 and motor-vehicle trade, we built the canopy the trade did not have: aluminium, customisable, easy to live with every day and kitted out for a long trip without giving up space or function.
Since the factory opened in 2014, that first canopy has grown into a full range: drawer systems, fridge slides, tray canopies, Suzuki Jimny gullwing doors and more, all designed, tested and built at our own factory in Johannesburg.
We are a family-run business and avid overlanders ourselves. We know the difference between a product that photographs well and one that works at the end of a corrugated road, because we spend our own holidays finding out.
The dream behind it is simple. Every Bushtech vehicle fully kitted with our own canopies, drawers and accessories, and our own team out on them: the corrugations, the river crossings and the long days between fuel stops, in every country we sell in. Each trip teaches us what the next canopy needs, and the canopy you buy carries what we learned.

The automotive market never stands still and neither do we. From design to functionality, we keep pushing what a canopy can do.

We test a product until we are completely satisfied. We would never sell a product we do not believe in, or use ourselves.
Built in Africa
Every Bushtech canopy and accessory is designed, tested and manufactured at our own factory in Chartwell, Johannesburg. Owning the factory is the point: the tooling, the people and the parts supply are ours, so what we promise is ours to keep.
Africa has some of the hardest roads in the world, and they either make a product or break it. That is why we build and test here: a canopy that survives the Karoo and the Kalahari is ready to take on the world.
Taking on the world
What started as one canopy for our own vehicles now goes out to eleven countries across Africa, the United Kingdom and Europe, and our first stock for Australia lands in November 2026. The goal has not changed since the first one: our own vehicles, fully kitted, out on the roads of every country a Bushtech goes to.
Wherever a Bushtech travels, it carries the same idea it was founded on: making the dream of the long road real, one vehicle at a time.
